Rohan Veal announced
as finalist for
Rolex World Sailor of the Year
The shortlist of finalists for the title 'Rolex World Sailor of the Year' has been announced by the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) (27 September 2007). Australian Rohan Veal has been named as one of the contenders for this prestigious award.
Rohan Veal has had a stellar year.
He won the International Moth Australian National Championships, the Victorian Dinghy Championships, the NSW Moth Championships, the Oslo Race week, Open European Championships, and the Pre Worlds Regatta.
To top it all off, Rohan annihilated the competition at the World Championships, winning the first eight races comfortably to take the title for a second time.
Apart from being the face of Bladerider, Rohan has always been 100% committed to seeing more sailors using Moth Class boats.
Since his return as an adult to the sport of sailing, he has been a great ambassador for the International Moth Class, and played an integral part in the formation of the Bladerider Company.
His results in every event this year show his domination of the sport. Actually seeing him race is a spectacle. His experience in the boat enables him to lead races, sometimes by up to 10 minutes - a huge lead in a boat that sails as fast as 28 knots.
Rohan's No.1 goal this year, along with winning the Moth World title, has been to see more sailors experience the Bladerider thrill of sailing on hydrofoils.
He has travelled the globe, spreading the word of the Bladerider X8. His aim has been to get as many people as possible on to these amazing boats so that fleet numbers continue to grow at the current phenomenal rate.
Rohan's work to raise the standard of competition to a level where others become as good as he is, if not better, is a real mark of his character.
He is a great ambassador for the sport and offers outstanding support to all who are involved with a Bladerider. Not a day that goes by that he isn't replying to numerous queries and offering support worldwide.
